The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Yeah Klingberg is my least favorite signing. There is a legit chance he's toast, and we gave him a chunk of change that could have gone most of the way in signing someone more reliably impactful.

Dumba was always crazy overrated but at least he put up numbers early on....nowdays he provides zero offense while still being a tire fire defensively.

I give Klingberg a B-, it's a dice roll but only for 1 year and there's no question it ups the (a) offense from the back end and (b) the entertainment factor.

Thoughts?

Reaves is an F. He doesn't even fight that much in recent years. honestly he can't play, and shouldn't be on the ice for a serious team in the playoffs. but he organizes parties so cool.

I would rate Klingberg a C+. I think when it's said and done he'll be able to be used situationally enough that his poor defence doesn't kill us. we have guys to take the toughs. And if all that's the case, he's actually a decent fit as an offensive specialist and addresses a significant need.

Bertuzzi gets an A. He's a solid B+ player but the 1 year term and hopefully playoff run is good value.

Domi B- completely 1-dimensional but adds badly needed skill to the bottom 6 and helps to balance out the Kampfs of the world. similar to Klingberg he'll have to be managed situationally

Wonder if we can convince another vet to take a Gio like contract. We could use another Center, even if it’s part time. Toews? Staal? Stastny? Anyone else out there?

would’ve like Schenn at minimum. He was pretty good with Reilly.

Bertuzzi - A
Domi - B
Klingberg - C
Reaves - F

Acquiring Bertuzzi like this is basically like getting him at the deadline without giving up a 1st and 4th like Boston did. A rental most likely, hopefully with the possibility of extension if he’s a good fit, and it cost nothing but money. Wish there was more term, but now we can use the 1st at the deadline to get more.

How much worse is Domi than Kadri if he is getting similarly sheltered minutes?

good question, as Kadri was terrible in his stint on the 3rd line here

Naz plays with more of an edge. Domi is more like a Bunting who yaps a lot but isn't tough.

Kadri has more to give you. but he didn't thrive in type of role we'll be using Domi in.
