Habs Acquire Tanner Pearson and a 3rd for Casey DeSmith

Teams can live & still be competitive with one or two bad contracts...

...as long as their star players are ridiculously underpaid.

Eventually, though, Nathan MacKinnon wanted to be the highest paid player in the league. The $6.3M caphit he had made him one of the best value deals in the league, which allowed Colorado to escape with having Erik Johnson at $6M.

But once they start pilling up, and you can't get rid of 'em? You're drifting down a long and painful road.

I love that Karl Alzner is still haunting the ledger to the tune of $833K

Are gonzo. Off the book, well… almost. As is Drouin.

That’s a big chunk in one summer. 6M in cap space might grease the wheels for another offload.
Yup but having them all on the books was dumb

Forgot about that Drubust contract as well

The biggest issues are always the same

Teams are too scared to let players go ahead of time especially for teams going nowhere

Teams overpay secondary role players
