I'm still of the opinion that the 4-5 best teams in the league are in the East, while the West is a lot of mediocre teams.

1- Toronto
2- Buffalo
3- Tampa Bay
4- Ottawa - Wild card
5- Bawstun - Wild card

Florida
Detroit
Montréal

1- Carolina
2- New Joizy
3- Rangers

Pittsburgh
Washington
Islanders
Columbus
Philly

1- Deadmonton
2- Los Angeles
3- Las Vegas
4- Calgary - Wild card

Vancouver
Anaheim
San Jose

1- Dallas
2- Colorado
3- St. Louis
4- Arizona - Wild card

Minny
Nashville
Winnipeg
Chicago

Carolina to the finals in the East.
Dallas to the finals in the West... I guess?

For now, all I'll say is that I don't see how Boston is going to be a top team this year.

The short answer: Pastrnak is a stud & Marchand is still very, very good. Zacha isn't a #1C but he's a sneaky good #2 who will fill in fine. Zacha-Coyle at even strength is no worse than Zbad-Trochek. Throw in Debrusk and you have a functioning top 6 that can do some things. Their blueline is excellent. McAvoy is a top 5 defender in the NHL and Lindholm probably a top 20. Ullmark-Swayman gives them fringe top 5 goaltending even assuming Ullmark regresses from Vezina form.

Everything they need to be a pain in the ass are middle 6 type guys that are gettable in season. I think you're going to be surprised how good Zacha is as a 2 way matchup centre at ES.

I think the Bruins are also very well coached, and that kind of got lost with how much talent they have had.

This notion that Buffalo, Ottawa or Detroit pass them i find dubious and ill found.

I don't think you can lose the guys they did, and not expect a sizable dropoff.

Hard to call any team with that d corps and those two studs up front any worse than "good."

Yeah. If you absolutely need to, you just spam those 2 out there for 30 minutes a night like Pronger-Niedermayer back in the day.

135 points to 100-105 points is a pretty sizeable drop off.
Agreed.

I was mostly referring to JB's prediction to start things out that they're going to the finals.

I don't think they're going to be too competitive with the upper echelon teams, great D or not.
