It's been a long four years, the return of the magic number thread

Maybe wait until the magic number hits single digits before dedicating a thread to it.

If the magic number even gets that close, of course.

Just trying to understand how playoffs seeding works:

If Habs finish in last playoff spot, they play top seed in conference, which means Caps now.

If they beat Caps (i think they can), who do they play next ? Winner of Canes-NJ, or winner of Panthers-Tampa/Leafs ?

Logically Panthers, since they become best seed if Caps are out, and Habs remain lowest seed still alive.

And winner Tampa/Leafs face winner Canes-NJ ?

Ultimately we control our own destiny after the rangers loss last night.
Two games in hand on them. All they need to do is win win win. Can't afford losing two in a row or any sort of slump at all.
