Around The League - 2025 Playoffs

Sens were undisciplined but know their only chance is to be more physical than the Leafs. When the refs call a game that tight, Sens were never going to win.

Sens dominated 5 on 5 play but couldn't score. Ullmark was terrible as well.

The issue I had was the call to give the Leafs a 5-3. Matthews felt a stick and went down like he had been shot.

Either consciously or not, the refs will always tilt the scales towards Toronto at key moments in key games. Teams that do well against the Leafs in the playoffs realize they have to beat both the Leafs and the refs to win. They do that by playing smart. Senators did not. They gave the refs every chance to take their team out of the game. Which the refs did.

I've been watching the same shit since 1962.

And goaltending didn't help. Goaltending was often a problem for the Senators in the years they had decent teams. Seems no matter who they trade for or how much they spend, they don't have "a guy". Funny how that stuff seems to span generations.

It’s only one game but Linus U. did not have good playoff stats. in Boston, with a very sound defensive team in front of him . . . which the Sens aren’t.
