They both have a deadly shot from the hashmark... Ovie's shot is definitely better though. And Ovie can be bit of a cherry picker and floater... But Laine is definitely a bigger floater.

Besides that... Ovie is far superior in every way.

Laine is a one trick pony whose trick has fizzled. If it's due to a wrist injury then sit his ass. If it isn't, sit his ass anyway. Most frustrating player I've watched on the Habs in a long line of frustrating players. Zero energy to the guy.

Laine is probably not a complete POS like ovie though. And likely doesn't have blood on his hands. So Laine is far superior as a human.

it's hard to even find comps for Laine because in reality you end up with pretty shitty players. You gotta find a winger with similar production, but only on bad teams like him, and with absolutely zero other dimensions to his game physical or intangible. No speed, no grit, no defense, no leadership, no persistence, no nothing.

Yeah, there's been some incomplete goal scoring wingers over the last 10-15 years. Kessel, JVR, Anders Lee, Gallagher, Boeser, Skinner....but none of them were as naturally talented at scoring goals as Laine, or remotely as empty at everything else as Laine.
