OT: American Politics

It's possible to not like a guy but also understand why... He's the president of the United States. Not a difficult concept for most, but forumice tends to struggle with this kind of thing.

It's the fascism dummy.
Plenty of fascists out there. Only one of them became a celebrity for no reason other than his personality. That person ended up becoming president. Very simple concept. It's 2025 and we are still confused about this. We haven't learned a damn thing.

Only one confused is you mate. I know why he became a celebrity, who his personality appeals to and why he became president.

I never said he had no appeal, his personality appeals to a certain type of person though. If you listen to him talk for an hour and come away with any other conclusion other than he's a deeply fucked up, narcissistic authoritarian, you're missing the entire fucking plot. Might he pull a clever one liner out of his ass now and again, sure. That doesn't make him charming or funny. We live in the podcast era, there's all sorts of examples of people who are actually funny and charming who can pull you in for that reason to listen to them speak. That's not Trump. Come for the fascism, stay for the fascism. You might get rewarded with a decent one liner occasionally.

No one's voting for Steve Bannon. They're voting for the guy that has always appealed to many people (that's how you become a celebrity) and one of the biggest, most successful self-promoters of all-time. America was always ripe for a charismatic fascist leader like him to sweep people off their feet. Fascism was never enough though. You need the personality to go along with it. And here we are.

Pretending that people don't find him funny or endearing is an all-time ridiculously moronic forumice hot take
I know women with better taste in comedy than you, which is probably the biggest insult I could give you since we all know that women don't know from funny.

I give you "Sex and the City" as Exhibit A.
