2024-25 NHL Misc. Thread

Presumably Peca is there for the young forwards, specifically Bedard. Blashill had trouble connecting with the Wings' young guys, reportedly. Nice to see them keep Sorensen around. It's not like he did bad work there as the interim.
Seravalli tweeted that Mike Vellucci is closing in on a deal to join the staff too. Since having a hissy fit and leaving the Checkers, he spent a year as head coach of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and 5 years as an assistant on Mike Sullivan’s staff in Pittsburgh. He was an assistant to Ryan Warsofsky on the US team that won gold at the World Championships. Warsofsky was his assistant in Charlotte the year they won the Calder Cup.

Seems the rest of the hockey world pretty much shared Dundon's opinion on Vellucci's suitability for an NHL head coaching job.

I assumed that all of the contact hitting just Hyman's arm/shoulder like that caused some sort of strain or dislocation or subluxation?

Cam Robinson from Elite Prospects tweeted that he’s hearing the Bruins are hiring Marco Sturm as their next coach. His last year in the NHL was 2011-12, he played a year in Germany after that. He coached the German National,Team from 2015-18, leading them to a Silver Medal at the 2018 Olympics. He was an assistant for the Kings for 4 years and just finished his 3rd season as head coach of AHL Ontario.
Elliot Friedman says this is not true.

I’ve watched it and watched it and can’t see what happened that would cause that kind of injury. Was it dirty? What did I miss?
Somebody got hurt. That's all the Marchment DNA cares about. Looked like he thought about the head shot and backed off, but definitely ripped through Hyman's arms to make sure to get a piece of him.

Tatar was never fast, but he had slowed down to the point of being nearly stationary by the end of this season. He's still got hands though, so maybe he'll have some fun in the Swiss league.
I hate to see a guy named Toe Mash Tater not be in the league anymore. Always enjoyed that name. Along with Shattenkirk.

From the way his useless wing hung down, it looked like a separated shoulder.

Pärs brother actually played for my local team for a few seasons in the 90s. But his name was Olle so that would not have been as funny.

Seattle hired Lane Lambert as their new head coach. He made the playoffs with the Islanders in 2022-23 but lost in the first round to the Canes. He was fired 45 games into his 2nd season with a 19-15-11 record.
