I'm going to take that article with a grain of salt because it was Nick Kypreos who wrote that "There was a sense Necas wasn’t overly thrilled with his experience in Colorado". I have no idea what Kypreos' source is for that statement. Nick Kypreos is not someone I highly trust as a source.
That said, if that is really true, I have no idea exactly what Necas is really looking for. If you cannot be thrilled averaging 20:30 minutes per game playing with Cale Makar and Nate MacKinnon then what the heck situation are you looking for?
Necas very well could still be thinking that he should be playing center. The Canes didn't see it that way. The Avs went out and got Brock Nelson to be their 2nd line center rather than playing Necas there. I doubt the Avs are going to play Necas at center. What team would actually put him at center? Guess what Marty, you are not good enough to be an NHL center. You COULD be a solid 30 goal 70 point winger for another 5-8 years. Just embrace that role!
The other point of course is Necas has been clear about his desire to become a UFA as quickly as possible. He is now just 1 year away from getting there. As JB noted, unless the Avs (or another team that the Avs trade Necas to) are willing to just get silly with the money on a long term extension, then Necas is going to market. I have a feeling that Necas' #1, #2, and #3 concerns are maximizing his money. Maybe #4 is playing center. I'm not begrudging him for that, 90% of UFAs take that approach.
I don't think Necas ever really thought after landing in Colorado that "This is great, I will sign a long term deal here". His plan was always to get to market. That is still the current plan I would think. While a full season collecting points on the Avs PP1 would help Necas' build a high salary case in the open market, I would not at all be surprised if the Avs elect to just trade Necas this summer rather than dealing with trading him mid season.

You can call him whatever you like. I was just giving my personal opinion on the man since I actually know him.
Your opinion of the man is just as valid as mine it’s just based on different criteria. We can disagree without it getting out of control. I don’t think differently of people who don’t like the same people I like.
Kypreos has been VERY hit and miss with this kind of reporting over the years, and his word choice trends to the overly dramatic. All of which is fine, except for the fact that we've been on this ride before ... every single time Carolina was trying to negotiate with Necas. Every time Carolina could talk extension or his existing deal was up, suddenly all these distant radio signals of discontent would start to hit the whisper lines. It always happened AFTER he got home to the Czech and got done with whatever tournament he was in. As predictable as sunrise with the only variable being whether it was his Dad or his agent doing the whispering.
I think the center stuff is a smoke screen for the fact that he simply HAS to have some sort of discontentment to hang his complaints on. His plan from Day 1 as a pro was to get to UFA status as quickly as humanly possible and to make as much cash along the way as possible. Potentially he wants to play center because they get paid more, which might be why the issue only comes up in the summer. His coaches know he's not an NHL center so why trouble them with mere contract negotiations? This is consistent with Necas' behavior anytime anything put a bump in his contract road. He pouted for a couple of months when he got sent to the minors in his first pro season and his agent complained about the ELC slide process a couple of times. I'm generally OK with guys being fairly mercenary but in retrospect, I think Necas has been a hired gun from day one. Which is fine so long as you've not counting on him for the long haul and you're cold blooded enough not to get bothered by the distractions.
But Colorado has run out of Cap options and HAS to make a call on where they go from here, which means cost certainty where they can get it. If he's just going to play out the string and bail, then they pretty much have to figure out what they can get for the guy. And if any GM gets him as anything other than a sign and trade, then they almost have to treat it like a one year rental.

For the record, I never said you can't call Mo a douchebag. All I said is that I wouldn't do so.
I have a hard time giving him a pass on how he’s endorsed the way the Panthers play. I have to seriously question the character of someone that would do that. It’s ultimately poor sportsmanship. He either supports it or is against it but doesn’t stop it.
I don’t know how to reconcile that with him somehow being a great guy in other areas - I understand there can be good and bad aspects to a person - to all of us. But it’s unsportsmanlike and he embraces it.

Pretty strong comparison there, and K is a person I know to be a man of honor from personal experience. Look, we've all got our blind spots I reckon. All the more reason to stand up and look your fellow competitors in the eyes at the end of the fight.

I wonder Marty Necas would sign in Buffalo if the money was right? That would definitely prove he was most interested in the $$$$$ and not getting his name on the Cup. Him signing in B-low would just be too far fetched to believe in my view.
I'd bet Marty's imagination, his father, and his agent are pumping his ego full of "You ought to be an NHL top line center" ridiculousness and he's swallowing it hook, line, & sinker. If any NHL GM offered him the slot, I couldn't see the coach standing for it.

Random question but I’m considering giving up my season tickets this year. Just a little burned out and tired of having to give tickets away at the last minute.
As I’ve already made a few payments on my season tickets next year I was wondering if I would get that money back in full or is there any kind of charge/penalty associated with what I’ve already paid?

There shouldn’t be a penalty, but be prepared for a full court press on applying the money you’ve already spent toward a mini-plan.

Trying to avoid a rash decision but both kids are out of the house and the wife likes about 6 games a year. Been getting them 20 years but to be honest the only reason for me to get them, as opposed to the secondary market, is playoff priority. Plus the parking situation seems like maybe a cluster next year and premier parking keeps me sane.

In regards to the Necas stuff, if you can’t be happy on that team playing first line minutes and lining up next to Nate Dawg and Makar on pp 1 then you may never be happy. I’m sorry but if you have any pride as a player like most in that league and want to try and win a Cup, you hope to be on a contending team like that with a bunch of really great players. He’s going to get his money no matter what in terms of several millions a year, but if you went Carolina with multiple playoff seasons followed by Colorado and still disgruntled then who knows what really floats your boat.
Yeah, the more I think about it, the Necas stuff means exactly as much now as it did when he was a Carolina player ... not much. Every contract cycle when he's back in Europe we get these smoke signals of general discontent. I honestly think it's all just that. Smoke. Translated into real talk it just means that he wants everybody to know that he's going UFA as soon as the calendar will allow him, whether he's playing for Colorado, Carolina or somebody else. Is he actually unhappy? Yes. He's unhappy that he's not getting paid UFA money yet and that he hasn't been able to pick his landing spot. Otherwise? Whatever. He's going to have a monster year next season either way. Because at the end of it he gets to live out his real dream ... being a top player in play in the free agent market.
Then he goes full Alexander Semin.
