OT: Movies/TV Shows

yeah the force is magic. lightsabers are swords. luke is a Chosen One hero who needs to defeat the great magic evil sorcers.

nothing really sci fi about star wars.
Except for the science fiction part. Like light sabers, the force (because you know like science knows it’s bs so it’s fiction), hyper speed, droids etc.

The only fantasy is your thinking that it’s fantasy genre. It’s science fiction with perhaps a fantasy bent.

It has the scifi esthetic, but has nothing to do with scifi.

It's a fantasy film just like lord of the rings. It's about swords and sorcerers and destiny and magic and grand battles between good and evil.

Eh, you’re ignoring what a sci fi is.

It may have fantasy aspects but it’s definitely science fiction. You’re being myopic.

I'm with toe-fingers on this one. Star Wars is fantasy in space.
Which makes it science fiction.

You can rewrite meanings of words and genres all you like, the rest of the English speaking world knows it’s science fiction.

The same as you can have action drama or comedy drama.

It’s a fantasy science fiction but most are.

Star wars is science fiction genre and fantasy genre. It’s also action, drama and adventure. .

And how come nobody recognizes the droids that they have been with every movie?

Also why didn’t Han Solo just go pay Jabba after the Death Star was destroyed?

There’s a lot of holes in the stories.
