2024-25 NHL Misc. Thread

It got to 3-0 and I went to sleep, seeing Edmonton playing like they couldn't care less. They looked dead, and like they were ready to give up. I woke up, checked the final score and nearly choked! I still don't think they'll win the series.
Oilers were asleep while you were awake then Oilers woke up while you went to sleep. Edmonton should know after two straight finals that Saturday is a game you gotta have to put yourself in a great position to finish it off.

I don't know man, his name is Leon; that's already pretty cool. Then you get to the super German "Draisaitl" family name and all bets are off. He has 4 OT game winners in the playoffs this season and that's on top of the 6 OT game winners that he scored during this regular season. *Both* of those are NHL records. I say that we trade Koochie and Burns to Edmonton for Leon. How do they refuse that offer?

Bouchard has be part of that deal too, the Canes are trading a top pair, right shot man, they need one in return.

Marchand scores more goals tonight than McDavid does the entire series.

Edmonton isn't winning two more games. Will never happen.

I'm unclear why y'all insist on burying the undead, but carry on I guess. Edmonton will be done when they lose the 4th game, which may or may not be in 25 days when they finally get around to playing Game 6. But if they do win Game 6, I 100% will not be shocked or even surprised.

Last night Florida was both better and more efficient, which is going to be tough to overcome without some sort of offensive explosion or a special teams advantage. Edmonton got neither, and like Forrest Gump's Momma would say, that's all there is to say about that.

Exactly. I mean, the Oilers have been to 3 Finals this century... down 3-1 to us, down 3-0 last year, and down 3-2 currently. They could easily pull off a Maple Leaf style win in the next game before blowing it in OT in Game 7.

Listen, the last time I claimed that the Oilers were finished, they came back and won that game. I was hoping for the same trickery against the hockey gods, but they apparently were onto me this time.

Yeah, I was on to your game and just making a general point about burying the undead. Like unleashing powerful AI into the wild, fictional history suggests it's a dangerous practice :0)

OK ... finally ... Game 6 is tonight. Thoughts? Florida has weirdly been more vulnerable at home and especially with the luxury of games in hand. They lost Game 6 to Toronto at home with barely a whimper and barfed up Game 4 at home against Carolina like a particularly nasty hairball. I'm honestly not sure what to expect from them tonight. Like the Hurricanes, their game is particularly difficult to play without the proper commitment to suffering ... both causing it and absorbing it yourself. Is having the Cup in the building enough motivation to get them to the Florida frenzy level or do they need a bit more? One thing we know about Edmonton, they will not go down without a fight. It might be a dumb, futile fight ... but they WILL stiffen up and push back.

I would go with Skinner tonight, he's batshit crazy on his highs and lows and is due for a high perhaps. Edmonton simply cannot start another game taking dumb penalties and giving up 2 and 3 goal leads again. I expect a good battle tonight and it would sure be fun to see this go seven two years in a row!
