Because without McDavid, Edmonton doesn’t make the playoffs. And with McDavid, Toronto can sleepwalk to multiple cups.

I just read that there hasn’t been a cup winner under the cap since 2012. Tampa #1 was the closest ar $500k ish over. Next year they were the biggest over by $18 mill.

It's stupid and it's an easy fix. I don't know why they'd have such a massive loophole when they are so strict about everything else with the cap.
Also though, Leafs are morons for not putting Matthews on LTIR.
