You are right, the team needed to be better in front of their goalie, having said that, Skinner needs to make the saves, look at the 3rd goal last night, (i believe it was the 3rd) where he gets the shot in his chest only to push the rebound out on the other side right to a Panther.. Skinner finished the playoffs with a gaa of 2.99 and save % of .889 AND he had 3 shut outs (think about that) ! Pickard finished with a gaa 2.85 and a save % of 0.886 and he won 7 games and lost 1.. Those stats show the team d was bad but also that they did not get the goaltending required to win the Cup.. Skinner let in some stoppable goals pretty much every game.. This has been an ongoing problem for years, Smith was like Skinner, good , bad , real bad, then Campbell, where is he now? This played out like last year, Skinner loses the starting job.. When your main guy in nets keeps losing his starting job in the playoffs, time to change directions..

They did well with bad goaltending but panthers suffocated the Oilers offense the last two games

The thing is every other series Oils had multiple facets playing well or great

This series everything went off the cliff , nothing produced as expected and the guns choked in games 5-6

Thats the playoffs nobody has a clue what to expect from game to game

So did the goaltending, Look i am the first guy to take the side of the goaltender, the Oilers did not get it, the Panthers scored on the first shot last night after the Oilers had several good looks.. Skinner stops that and its go go.. instead it was oh oh here we go again..
