You are not allowing for the psychological gut punch of knowing before every game that anything and everything you do probably won't matter if your goalie starts baking muffins in the first 5 minutes. It's demoralizing to play in front of a goalie like that. Eventually you just cant summon the will to attempt another comeback.

Please stop , take a look at the moronic defensive team blunders Oilers produced all series

When your high danger chances are 13-1 in period 1 your doomed , it would be 7-1 without Skinner that game

This is like building a house every tradesman has to do their job before you complete the house on time

Your blaming the plumber because the electrician , HVAC , and carpenter didn’t show up

Yeah, the whole dynamic changes after you get behind repeatedly. Had Skinner played well, for all we know the Oilers may have produced more offense as the game went on, and the defence struggled less......as happened in previous series. Had the Oilers gotten a few leads the Panthers may have struggled more to score ,etc. Its not just our view that goaltending was a big issue-the same perspective seems to be coming from many sources including from within the team.

As Krusty repeatedly posts….Edm couldn’t come close to matching Fla’s depth.

Once again proves hockey is the ultimate team game, need 4line depth to win the Cup

The greatest players in the world can be gane planned otherwise Howe, Gretzky & Lemieux would’ve won the Cup every season

Gordie Howe first retired in 1971. He won 4 Cups, but none after 1955.

Gretzky played until 1999. Never won a Cup after 1988.

Bobby Hull only won a single Cup, and that was in 1961. He played in the NHL for another decade before jumping to the WHA.

Only guys like the Richard brothers, Beliveau and Cournoyer won Cups consistently through their entire careers. Hockey is not basketball. One player is just one player, no matter how good he is.
