We have a 2nd, 3rd, and 2 5ths that could have been used. Maybe we offered the 3rd and 2 5ths and they took the 3rd + 4th instead or yeah, saw the offers as close enough that doing right by Marchment monetarily was the tie breaker.

Had we offered the 2nd rounder (which would have been that far off Seattle's 3rd) and our 3rd, we would have no picks until the 5th round. Hard to keep your scouts happy if you're doing shit like that right before the draft. The moral of the story is to no waste draft capital on shitty deadline acquisitions that never make a positive difference.

Apparently, a big part of that "Mitch's camp feels he wasn't respected" in Toronto comes down to Auston being made captain "over" Mitch.

The relationship probably would have gone a lot better over these years if this kid could have stopped comparing himself to Auston at some point. It's a toxic relationship now, but only one side looks toxic to me.
