From what I see D'Amico doesn't rumour monger as much as he posits which players might potentially be
a) available somehow, and
b) a good fit for the Habs

D’Amico did bring up an interesting point IMO, would Fla potentially consider dealing Verhaeghe, who does play C, if they want to target Marner?

Turns 30 in Aug, 7yrs left @ $7MAAV, however has a full NMC which would make it low probability IF Fla even considers going down that path

Because someone somehow made handedness for defensemen (when it’s not) a must and now overthinking the need on forward. Habs can just promote Flojack as 4th C and we done.

No need to write a whole article for clicks because the thought is original yet lame and makes no sense. Utah can also just draft Martin at 4 and we done
 
Question: VGK have $9M AAV for 18/23 roster

Could the VGK potentially trade for Price to gain $10.5M AAV via LTIR, place Pietrangelo also on LTIR creating nearly $28M AAV allowing signatures of both Marner + Ekblad for say $20M combined cap, then use remaining $8M to fill 4-roster spots?

Needless to say Pietrangelo would be 100% miraculously healthy for game 1 of playoffs….

How exactly are we done by putting Flojack on the 4th line? We still would need a 2C.

No , they need to slot 31’s salary and Pietro in the offseason before they do anything

Similar when they traded for Webers contract , they were able to slot him in but not the year afterward when they needed about 15 mil to retain players but Sea ate half that number first.

I’ve been thinking about this, w Fla having won back-to-back Cups and NHL being a copycat league: I wonder how many “skilled type” players potentially free up as teams try to seek out Bennett/Tkachuk type truculent players and will a team drastically over evaluate impact of a Josh Anderson for example like the Stars?
