2024-25 NHL Misc. Thread

Jesse Puljujarvi might have finally found the level of pro hockey that he could turn into a successful career. if he is willing, he could spend the next decade signing 2 way deals with NHL teams with minimum guarantees in the $300-500k range and play almost full time in the AHL with occasional NHL cups of coffee.

Or he can finally give up North American hockey and play pro in Lliga or possibly the KHL. He is skilled enough to be a pro, just not an NHL full time pro.

A few offseason logo/color scheme, etc. activities around the league for this who are into this stuff...

In a much more minor adjustment than I feel it is being made out to be, the Bruins have tweaked their logo, returning to a gold-colored "B"...

The Blues, however, have done some really nice work, returning the team's heritage colors, adding some alternate logos and nice fonts...

Thanks for linking to the Blues updates. I think they look sharp. I really like the tertiary marks as well.

And them with more on the Boston update. https://uni-watch.com/2025/06/23/bruins-launch-new-logo-new-uniforms-to-come-wednesday/

The Blues new/old jerseys are pretty nice. The only tertiary logo I saw was the interlocking STL on the pants, I didn’t see the fleur de lis or trumpet.

I like the colorway of the new Blues uniforms, but the home blues are a little bland for me. The new shade of Blue makes for a nice base, but there's nothing much happening on the collar or shoulders and the sleeve stripes are really, really basic. Still, it's a good look and I really like the road whites. Maybe a little too close to the LA Chargers, but it works for them too.

As for Boston, I will NEVER understand that fan base's level of freakout over what looks to every non-Bruins fan as a version of what the spoked B has always been. It's a capital B ... in a spoked circle, with varying levels of detailing. Good for you, I guess.

The Hockey Hall of Fame class of 2025 and RBA was snubbed again.

Builder - Former Boston University coach Jack Parker and Daniele Sauvageau, the first woman elected as a builder. Parker succeeded Jack Kelley at BU when the latter left to coach the first season New England Whalers.
Player - Jennifer Botterill, Zdeno Chara (1st ballot), Brianna Decker (1st ballot), Duncan Keith (1st ballot), Alexander Mogilny, Joe Thornton (1st ballot)

Mogilny finally makes it in…maybe there is still hope for RBA!

Pretty solid NHL class. Glad to see Mogilny finally get to the finish line, as I never really bought the arguments against him. Chara and Thornton were really kind of automatic, and given that this is the NHL, I guess Keith was as well.

Apparently Evander Kane has been traded to Vancouver per Kane’s social media accounts.
To quote Lili von Shtupp, it’s twue.

Kane to Vancouver for a 2025 4th rounder, originally belonging to Ottawa. Vancouver takes on the whole cap hit, 1 more year at $5.125 million. I’m not sure what the Canucks are thinking but, whatever. The Oilers needed to clear cap space, they have to deal with RFA Bouchard and Draisaitl’s new contract kicks in, jumping from $8.5 million to $14 million.

Kane is one of those guys with too much baggage on and off the ice to make him worthwhile. He’s got skill, physicality and can play, but those stupid penalties, his off ice conduct and overall demeanor just scream liability. Let him go to Vancouver and I’ll just assume that JR had a hand in that because once he gets attached to a player, he’s attached even against better judgement.

Well, sounds like Vancouver finally got the message from Boeser's camp that he's hitting the market. Honestly, smart. That team is a drama-laden mess even when they're good. It's a great city, but nothing can be worth all the crap you take from the press and fans in that market. I'd get out at first opportunity as well. Kane is a bargain bin replacement, but they're not looking for first line production ... 25-ish goals is good enough to replace what they'd be losing. I like Boeser, but he's a middle 6 support guy and 100% not worth over-paying

Apparently the Blues are taking calls on Jordan Kyrou ahead of his full no movement clause kicking in on July 1. Frankly, that would be lunacy as he's exceptionally reliable and signed to a reasonable deal.
