Sabres need to target the right players to commit big money
Based on that contract for only 6 years JJ probably wanted more or 9+ for full term , not worth it
Sabres were dealing from strength in terms of medium size skilled wingers. They have Quinn. They have Kulich. They have Benson. They have Ostlund and Rosen coming in.
They did perfectly fine in this trade in terms of the assets and the type of assets that they got back.
They basically got Reinbacher and Flojack (2 more years of progression and development) for Caufield type of player.
Habs land would lose their minds over that.
