And since they are drafting Schaefer and no team needs two number 1 D....shrug?

Anytime you can overpay to get picks to use those picks to draft a hometown prospect ranked somewhere in the top 4-9 of a weak draft you simply must.

Lets not blame Darche TOO much. A year ago, Dobson was a 24-year-old with a year left before hitting RFA and he was coming off a 70 point season.

This year he's 25, in need of a contract and coming off a down year.

Of course, I fully expect him to rebound nicely, but a year ago we all had less doubts and maybe even thought he could improve on that 70 point season.

Hagens definitely has star upside. I can see the appeal for the Isles of potentially coming out of the draft with a hometown #1 C, AND a true #1 defenceman.
