The other question, how long do they put up with Dach and Laine before they throw in the towel. A 2nd line of Dach Laine and Demidov will be collectively -60 by Christmas.


Hopefully a couple of dudes in Laval will be ready to take over.

I’m expecting Gallagher to take Armia’s place on 4th line RW, Laine slotting next to Newhook & Anderson on 3rd line but getting 1st PP duties

Bolduc lining up w Demigod & Dach

Unless there’s a top-6 acquisition, at which point I assume Laine will be dealt and a Bolduc slotting down w Newhook & Anderson

Isn’t Laine going to Sam Jose to help them reach cap floor?
 
Still need a 3C at a minimum to push Kirby to wing.

I think a Veleno can be a temp solution to start while we wait for Flojack/Beck/Kap to get their half season of AHL hockey.

At the deadline you get a rental.
 
If there's a way to unload Laine and a 3rd for nothing, I'd be pretty happy. Otherwise, ride it out for the season with him on the 3rd/4th line and PP2.

Figure we have 5m in space. Getting a second line centre probably has some salary going out.

I'd let a healthy Laine play and either trade him at the deadline for assets, or if you have to pay to rid yourself of him to get a centre. Also completely fine letting him walk at the end of the year.

Yeah, I guess it just feels like he doesn't fit into this group of hard workers. He's a bit of a flake. If the players like him then there's no harm in keeping him for the year. Maybe he's gets motivated and has a good year.
