Mailloux is not 6’5”, and Bolduc’s release is borderline elite + he has proven at the pro level he can actually ADD to his game which very limited # of prospects do. Bolduc had zero physicality to his game in juniors, he’s developed an absolute pain in the ass physical element to his game, which IMO will only grow under the tutelage of Josh Anderson…

6’3” RHD with more brain farts than Matheson on a bad day who became expendable with the acquisition of Dobson for 6’ Zach Bolduc who plays with an edge, plays with high speed and gets in dirty areas and has an elite shot at 21?

Yes I make that trade. Mailloux is overrated. He’ll be an NHL but likely won’t figure it out for another five years. He’s thick headed.

Mailloux had no path forward with the Habs. Hutson and Dobson taking the 2 PP spots, with DR and Guhle completing the top 4. What were we going to do with him? Insurance in case of DR collapse? Or bottom pair with no specialty teams? No brainer imo.

It sounds like when the teams couldn’t complete a Kyrou trade, they said “F it, let’s make some kind of deal given how much time we’ve already put into this.” I’ve settled many cases on that basis.
 
Bolduc is a better fit with regard to age and salary, than Cailou. I wonder if he wasn't the plan all along.
