We have no replacement for Carlo, and unless Robertson is blowing the doors off, we're not getting Karlsson for him....and then if he is, why would we trade him for 35 yr old Karlsson?

As for Cowan...unless he crushes training camp, I want to see him torch the AHL first. It's tough to make the jump straight from junior to the league.

I said Robertson and EK as the basis of the trade, with retention to be figured out in some other crap we'd need to give Dubie. I frankly think Dubie will value a guy like Robertson more than EK at the point where Pitts stands right now, so I don't know that he'd demand too much to hold 50% for two years. He'd still probably be freeing up $3M or more in the exchange. Maybe there'd be less retention if he values Kampf or Krok too.

Whatever the drop off defensively, the add of mobility and offense from the backend would probably more than make up for it.

He's gonna be 24 this year and hasn't been able to stick full-time on an NHL roster. And has a career high of 27 points, coming off a season with 22 points. Take away the Leafs goggles and just think how much interest we'd have in this player if he was on another team. And how much we'd want the Leafs to trade for him. I'd maybe have interest but I sure as hell ain't paying much for a project like this.

you might as well hang on to him if you've come this far. you still have to get to the playoffs and the Leafs will need every point they can find to replace Marner's regular season production, which has been impressive.
 
Wonder if Nylander gets moved to Matthews wing. If not I can’t imagine players wouldn’t want to ride shotgun
