Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

Looks like we’re going to continue to have two Nylanders in the organization:

Kind of surprised Alex has seemingly accepted his fate as a career AHLer. But I guess if that is the case, playing in Toronto and living with his brother is making the absolute best of that situation.

I mean he's been a tweener for how many years now? May as well get to hang with big bro and live in a world class city

True enough.

I guess the most surprising part was him turning down NHL deals to sign an AHL deal with the Marlies right after his 11 goals-in-23 games stint with Columbus.

But doubtful there were any NHL offers this summer after scoring 44 points in 64 games last year as a 26 year-old playing in the AHL.

As far as AHL jobs go, Toronto is top of the food chain i would imagine. most ahl teams are in small towns or shit small cities like Belleville, Abbotsford, Winnipeg, etc.

Worse things in life than making a few hundred grand playing hockey in a great city and living with your brother

Is there room at the top for Laval/Montréal ?

Yep, only 5% or so of people living in Laval/Montréal speak English.

Everyone knows that...

Oh, a lot of them speak english. Many of that "a lot" are cunts with anglo's who speak it in their presence though.

Regardless of how many speak english, the english language is at best tolerated by locals and not at all by the provincial government. Most AHL'ers are some variety of non french speaker, and it's very clearly a secondary language in the area.

Poor guy. Making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to play hockey.

Name 3 other ways that he could earn that much.

Sandin. Amirov, though he never got a shot to show what he was.

Holmberg and Durzi.

Man, look at the 2020 draft - picked 12 players and got a total of 0 NHL games out of them after 5 years.
