Last year, you forget that they were down 3-0, and scored 19 goals in the 4 elimination games that they faced, but somehow you only remember the last game where they scored 1 to say that they chocked.

Blaming Skinner for all the teams faults is nonsense

All round team failure in those 3 games

It's the when it mattered part that you're picking and choosing. You're ignoring their comeback from 3-0 in the series last year. Also Leon was clearly injured, no goals in the last 9 games of those playoffs, after producing 24 points in 12 games in the first 2 rounds.

Game 5 this year, Conor and Leon were a combined 80 shots for, 32 against when on the ice. Pickard stopped 14 shots out of 18.
Game 6 they got shut down pretty good but still were a combined 49 vs 32. Skinner stopped 20 out of 23.

Florida was a better team period, singling out the big guns is unfair, but they never had a chance with a .866% save from their goalies. Skinner got pulled twice in the finals.

I am not picking on anyone specifically , the entire team looked like shit period in games 5-6

If your scoring 4 goals in 3 important games your fucken done

They made this miracle run to game 7 last year ...win game 7 but you cant with 1 fucken goal

97 was -4 and no points in those 3 games , call it as it is GW

Florida was the better team but no guns scoring , team D was atrocious in games 5 and 6

1 goal, -5, but 3 empty nets. Not great. Some credit is deserved for the Panthers though, they know how to play shut down defense when they have a lead, and they scored within 10 minutes in each of those games, less than 5 minutes even for 2 of them.
 
97 had 18 points in 13 games in the last two finals. Leon had 8 in 6 this year, after just 3 assists in 7 last year.

Barkov gets a pass because they won but he only had 2 goals (none this year) and 10 points in 13 games. But Florida has so much more depth that he was able to play shutdown against McD.

If Florida is able to only focus on 2 players to shut down, that's not too hard for them.

and you are right, Florida won so he gets a pass, but yeah he did underperform. You are also correct that since the Oilers are basically a 2 man team, if you shut them down, you win

When you fall behind to a team like Florida you tend to lose. You can’t let them build a lead. If you do they crush you defensively until you open things up activating the D and then they build on the lead. Rinse repeat.

Goaltending lost the Oilers the cup. Twice.

This year definitely. Last year less so. It was Edmonton first year in the finals and they were not ready for it, took them 2 games to adjust to the Panthers, scoring only 1 goals in the first 2 games. They won 3 of the last 5 but it was a big hole to dig themselves from.
