The Official Post-Bitch 2025-26 Regular Season Thread

Asked about being an analytics guy:

He says he thinks of the job as a leadership position. He tries to find competitive advantages, wants to find any edge he can. Thinks there's advantages in data, sports science etc. His job is to integrate that into the fundamentals. Etc etc.

Was asked about the leafs shit nerdies this year and says his job is to diagnose that and try to fix it.

All very vague stuff but he's saying the right things!

Asked about the rest of the management team. Said him and Mats will go through that process and put together the core group of execs and make decisions about the medical staff and scouting staff, etc from there.

Says Auston and Willy are essentially untouchable. They're trying to get better and it's hard to get better when you're trading world class players. Common sense but not so common.

They're asking real questions!!!!

Sundin calls Chayka the Captain and that he's excited to learn from him. Need rosie to ask more questions about the hierarchy!!!

So let's say he responds to those questions with something random about roster construction (which no one in the media even hinted at wanting to talk about today) --> "He's dodging the questions." "He sounds overly rehearsed." Etc etc. The criticism and negativity was coming either way. I would rather he just shuts that shit down. Not worth giving them any sound byte at all when they ask those questions.

The long and short of it is this: No one should care what these people say and the organization should shut them down at every turn.

Our most successful run of the last 50 years came when our lead hockey person took that exact tact, and appears to have considered physical assault on Toronto media members as a very real option to consider.

Fuck those putos.

He’s talking about incorporating data into all areas of the organization to exploit competitive advantages.

We’re so back

I have zero doubts that he believes in it and knows how to sell this. I have doubts that he's competent enough to achieve it.

But, for absolute fucking clarity, I'll take a data salesman over the smartest horsetrader in the OBC every day of the week.

Remember we don't even need him to analyze the data. We need him to use a very strong, competent team of nerds to back up every organizational decision he makes. And it sounds like he plans to do just that. Hopefully Metcalf becomes his Sunny Mehta.

Good smart common sense decisions based on everything including data

You can take all the data you want if it doesnt align with your objectives its pointless

Hughes simply puts a value on everything and sticks to the plan
Drafting Hudson with your fourth pick in a draft didn’t hurt either

Tre's intro presser: I like long d
John's: I like mobile puck moving d

That alone excites me, forget the data stuff. So sick of seeing grenades launched at Matthews by the d.

The data supports his preference of course
