Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

Why hasn’t TB resigned him already?

Brisebois wanted to see a "bigger sample" of games before offering an extension and in the interim Raddysh decided that he wants to test free agency.

This is a guy with like 18 dollars career earnings, this is his last shot at a big money deal, he's not giving Tampa a discount.

Oh he said so publicly already? That’s amazing. Throw money at him and get it done. I’m good with the risk.

Raddysh hasn't specifically ruled anything out, but I posted his quote from their season ending press event and it was super non commital about anything other than business being business, it takes time, yadda yadda.

Eye test likes him a lot. I was watching a fair amount of the Habs series.

He's not flashy, just steady and smart. Mobile but not an elite skater. Smart and gets a good jump on just about everything. Can skate the puck up ice but isn't wheeling through 2-3 guys in the neutral zone. Knows what to do with the puck and moves it well. In the offensive zone he's works the puck around clean and gets available for his bomb well. I'm bullish on this not being some wild streak or some shit because it all looks IQ driven. Just reads the game well, does a lot of things right with no real weaknesses. Mobile, smart, decent size, not soft.

He is 30. This is his only chance to set his family up with generational money and it is very clear the UFA market is weak and teams have money to set on fire.

Wouldn't think 8x7 is out of the question for him.

Didn't we do this exact same thing last year where we were all sure the contracts were going to be crazy and the AFP projections nailed like, all of them?

Much weaker UFA pool this year and sustained cap growth, I would love to be wrong.

Weaker than last year? Ehlers, Granlund, Gavrikov, Orlov, Dvorak were the top 5 AAV's last year. This year is a fucking banger in comparison. At forward Tuch is a way more impactful player than Ehlers. There's a bunch of old boys with some tread left on the tire that are actually good like Malkin & Coyle. Some legit decent middle 6 power forwards: Mantha, Jenner, Marchment.

On the blueline, last year's biggest AAV's were Gavrikov, Orlov, and Cody fucking Ceci. This year there's 3 actual #1-2's available and a couple analytics weirdos who might be good to gamble on.

As for sustained cap growth, that's an argument for contracts to go up roughly the same percentage that the cap increases. These are multi billion dollar companies with internal budgets and shit. An extra 10 million in cap doesn't turn 6 million dollar contracts in 2025 into 9 million dollar contracts in 2026, it turns them into 6.6 million dollar contracts. People will be amazed at how quickly that increase in the cap gets soaked up by RFA raises and shit in most teams willing to spend to the full 104.
