The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

With Anaheim not playing zellweger I wonder if they would like Reilly in return. with a pick

Seems to me it might not be the worst idea in the world to keep Mo around if we’re moving off Treebrooby grittensity-style hockey to a system that values puck-moving defensemen.

Even if he ultimately doesn’t prove worth keeping around for this team’s next chapter, it can’t make his trade value worse than it is now.

So...I generally agree here, but if we were adding Zellweger theoretically, on the left side that would give you McCabe and Zellweger. McCabe is actually a pretty good puck mover according to the numbers. So is OEL. If Anaheim wanted something like that I think you'd have to do it.

I love Mo, but he's one more bad year under a new coach away from being a 7.5 million dollar boat anchor and it's not like the last versions of good Mo that we saw over an entire season weren't replaceable.

Yeah, if you can make a good Rielly trade this summer, by all means make it.

If it’s a Mrazek/Marleau-style expensive contract dump, let’s keep him around and give him a Phaneuf-esque rehabilitation tour before attempting to shuffle him off again.

anaheim has lots of young skill which means the hockey men need them to add gudder and bigger and prosier so it's gonna be Carlo and a pick for their undersized 7th dman.

Is Verbeek not a data driven guy?

Would he want a Carlo?

Im guessing Ottawa does, that's the trade partner i think
