Minnesota/Colorado would be dumb to pay Makar and Hughes $15 mill. they should let them walk.

Word is the Hawks are going to be shopping Kevin Korchinski and replace him with a UFA vet.

He hasn't proven a thing at the NHL level yet, but he might be someone the Leafs ought to take a gamble on as a puck moving D.

He's basically the same problem as Nemec though. He's about to turn 22 and hasn't even established himself as a NHL regular yet. Shit, his AHL performance doesn't suggest there's a #1 guy in there either, or that he's on his way to becoming something close to one.

I mean i wouldnt trade for him and do nothing else, but i'd look into it and keep adding giving him a bottom pair slot over one of the fuck muppets they used last season.

The plan is probably to be pushing some of the guys used higher up the lineup (Rielly, OEL, undead Tanev) further down the lineup.

I just don't think we're in the position to be spending good assets (which I assume Chicago would want...1sts, Cowan's, etc) for a 22 yr old guy who might be a bottom pairing defender now, and might not end up any better than that when all is said and done. If he was seal clubbing the AHL I'd see it differently, but if he was seal clubbing the AHL I imagine Chicago would have found a spot for him.

Id be willing to take a chance on a young dman that is on the outs with their organization. But id chase a guy like Zellweger, who is an elite skater and a legit NHLer, over slow guys who were picked high and stink in the NHL.

Also should note that Ras was 22 when we traded him (same age as Nemec, Korchinski and Zellweger) and he went for a late 1st. He was more proven than Nemec and Korchenski.

Doing a quick look, and not a whole lot of examples of d that age suddenly turning into anything elite or realgud. The top pair stud types show way more promise than what Nemec and Korchinski have shown so far at their ages. Doesn't mean it's impossible they break out, but probably unlikely.

Like Korchinski is probably worse than even liljegren was at that age. Upon thinking about it, I'm on team ME on the evaluation these failed prospects and it's probably best to not acquire them while they still have a lot of value.

With that said, DO IT JOHNNY.
