Tortorella would be a better choice, short term or otherwise, for the Oilers situation, I think, He doesn't seem to carry the same serious baggage as Babcock and seems to have general respect among veteran players about the league despite his colourful ways. Oilers should have waited to see if he became available-they could have always gone after Babcock later.

But I suppose it may be a couple of players on Edmonton that have to approve whichever hire. For all we know, they may prefer Babcock over Torts for their own reasons. Or maybe Torts prefers not to go there (although it seems he's never been much fussy about location and may not have even been contacted by Edmonton since the break with Vegas). I still would think Torts would have been a better choice.

not sure a team that doesnt play defense is a fit for Torts
