The benefit of Patty Kane is that he'll teach Gavin to get every penny....after he's won a Conn Smythe for us.

He can have the entire ~130 million dollar cap if he does that.

Jenner is a guy ive liked for years but 3 years at 33 years old with dome durability issues is a tough one.
 
I don't see many obvious avenues via trade for a center so you probably need to go Jenner here. It's non negotiable that they fill this need.

I'm fine with Jenner fwiw. As much as I have former bluejacket gritensity PTSD, I wouldn't have had a problem if Foligno came in free agency at a reasonable deal (5.5 today is like 4 million from back then), so didn't cost a 1st ++, and was played on the 3rd line where he belonged instead of the 1st with Matthews.
 
Didn't Lee play real well with John Tavares the last few years on the Island.

I would like a true 2C.... I think Trotchek would be another good vibes guy for Auston Matthews and would make Werenski cooler as well of course.

You don't have much if the rangers want alot.

Kane would also be the biggest treat for Matthews and Mckenna as they loved Kane.

The best move may just be to make Nylander a C and actually commit to it. But it's too risky to count on that in case it doesn't work out. A shame they've never given it a real go, even if I'm skeptical that it would work.

Toronto landed the grand prize in Gavin McKenna. He’s an ultra-dynamic winger whose vision, skills and game-breaking abilities make him the draft’s highest upside prospect. They had a great Day 1, and Day 2 was also excellent for them. They got two players I was very passionate about in Måns Gudmundsson and Patriks Plumins, as well as a bunch of other players like Alexander Bilecki and Ethan MacKenzie I think are real prospects. They could have multiple Day 2 guys play games to go with McKenna’s impact potential

Pronman only gave out one A+ and it goes to your Toronto Maple Leafs. Guy is a prospect guru so this is a great sign.
 
I mean 1st overall and a bottom 5 finish SHOULD put any team in a position to have a great draft - except our first was legitimately the only good pick we owned of our own.
