The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

McMann --> McKenna

Stecher --> Raddysh
Carlo --> Tanev
Benoit --> Andrae

Already a massive massive upgrade.

And letting kids play over Krok and Myers probably a big upgrade too.

A bit riskier in net but probably not any different in overall quality.

At minimum we now have a bunch of money to upgrade on Roy and Laughton.

And we might try to upgrade on Rielly/Maccelli/Robertson/Domi too.

and puck possession hockey is back on the menu. Maybe the most important single change between last year and this. The roster last year wasn't particularly good, but there was no reason it couldn't have been a mid tier analytics team that was somewhere in the 90-100 point range based on some luck factors.

Let's get McKenna signed asap. I want to see him on the roster on capfriendly.

If he's getting $1.25m, and say Robertson extends at $3M, and Andrae signs for $3M, and we delete Maccelli, Pezzetta, and Myers off the roster, that still leaves around $16.7M to spend. If we can forget Domi, it bumps back up to around $20.5M.

That could accommodate a retained Petterson plus Marchment and say Jenner.

Or a whole host of other possibilities. The roster is going to be stacked.

Even a fourth line of Lorentz Joshua Groulx would not be easy to play against.

Rielly for Pettersson
Knies for Werenski

McKenna - Matthews - Nylander
Cowan - Pettersson - Arvidsson?
Maccelli - Tavares - Robertson

Werenski - Raddysh
McCabe - OEL
Andrae - Tanev

We already had Tanev. So it would be incorrect to consider him as a replacement
