1st Rnd '25 Playoffs: The Battle of Ontario V - More of the Same - LFG!

I think the Leafs core 4 issues can be summed up in one word - or the lack thereof - Competitiveness - they simply lack the natural drive to want to win at all costs. To excel beyond their comfort zones. I guess you could simply say these are not alpha males. That is the problem.
Which was obvious to everyone to see in plain sight years ago. You put guys who love their comfort zone together, you don't come close to winning the hardest trophy in all of sports.

In fact I'd break them up if this was just a small team in a company. The don't belong in the same room together.

Isn’t that kind of the point?

Aho’s a mid-tier star on a mid-tier team who’s performance in clutch playoff games nonetheless blows the performance of our highly-paid superstars out of the water.
He's also playing for a cheap team that sees a lot of support walk out the door over money.

I don't think they lack competitiveness. they have the worst case of the yips in sport history. Just can't score in big games.
Once it starts it just gets worse and worse. I recall after Columbus bubble loss Matthews called it "Embarrassing" they were 0-4 in playoff series. That was 5 years ago...
I know they don't want to leave with all this unfinished business, but life would be simpler on another team. I've never seen anything like this in sports.

Watching Matthews break his stick at the bench means nothing. Break it over someones back and you might get some of us to believe you actually give a damn..

They just have to take care of business tonight. Next round is going to be a blood bath anyway, but they can't let a 3-0 lead slip away. Though that would be the cherry on top of this 8 year old shit sandwich.

He still hasn’t won the cup is what I’m getting at.
This will be the narrative regardless of how far the team goes unless it take home the cup,
No?

I can’t say that I agree. The current narrative around the team and their reputation as playoff chokers wasn’t some inevitability unless they’d won a Cup by now.
