While I get the jest of your post and not that i disagree, it just happens to be one side of the coin, without the players you don't have a league. We have gone down this path before..

There will ALWAYS be players. The NHL will always be the most lucrative option for elite players, even if the owners really drop the hammer on the PA.
 
NFL players who get 200 million contracts are not slaves ffs. Anyone who makes such a claim or who repeats it is mentally challenged.

Without the rink funded by the owners or tax payers there is no league , just like there is no employment without the private sector or government

These players are free to start their own league , fund their own buildings , and pay themselves

Owners dont need their hockey toy to survive , palyers are done

Yes , the players are the product and the employees and are unique

The old days the players got screwed but revenues were limited so not all could make a great living

Its gone too far these days , I get it its a business of big bucks and creative accounting across different P/L sheets

But this idea of players getting ripped off making millions etc... is ridiculous
