According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and survivors of last month’s massacre at the Suweida National Hospital, the men seen in the video executing a medical staff member were identified as members of Syria’s Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Interior.

I stand with the Druze.
No more excuses from al-Julani’s government. None 💔

Guess ISIS getting a state was bad.

It was, but viewed on the macro, Syria turning into slightly more of a basket case being the externality of breaking Russia/Iran's backs in the region is an unfortunate but necessary price to pay for eventual regional stability. A bunch of the players in the M.e are willing to play ball and move forward.

Iran having a viable land route to provide weapons and supplies directly to Hezbollah and Hamas was going to be an insurmountable obstacle to stamping them out imo.

I mean, it's obviously awesome but it is a major energy user and if your grid is pounding CO2 into the atmosphere to create that power, you're kind of compounding the problem. Creating higher temperatures that require more AC, which then creates more CO2 to cause higher temperatures, so on and so forth.

But the majority of people appear too stupid to understand this and will vote for idiots that push "Air Conditioning for Everyone!" policies that will help usher the end of modern civilization (the same people selling silly solutions tend to also be big fossil fuel shills advocates)

With that said, I wish the left would learn how to politics. "Hey, AC is awesome, we love AC, use all of the AC you want. We're going to give you the best, most modern electrical grid and society that is going to ensure that you can keep your flat 5 fucking celsius all summer if you want." Then get elected, do the green cities thing, do the green grid thing and make AC less necessary and less carbon intensive. Fucking dummies.

Are you saying that using air conditioners for a month or two in the summer is a major cause of global warming? I don't understand this argument at all, it's got to be like 0.0001% of the problem. There's a pretty easy argument to make - generate power using all the green tech in the world, solar, wind, etc. If we need more power then build more nuclear plants. There are also many, many other ways to cut power usage. Telling people to fuck off and boil in the summer in the meantime is ridiculously short-sighted.

IEA puts air conditioning at 7% of total global greenhouse gas emissions. About half of that is power generation, the other half is refrigerant leakage.

I mean, that's what I just fucking said.

I was referring to increased a/c usage in Europe this summer, not overall worldwide totals, but fair point - it's a lot overall. You said: "get elected, do the green cities thing, do the green grid thing and make AC less necessary" - that is a decades long process though. There has to be a smarter plan in the interim, they have to figure out how to handle a/c in a more carbon-neutral way. Standing against it will get more people like Le Pen elected.

Current projections (with no additional policy changes, just the current trajectory of renewable adoption projected into the future alongside projected energy usage over the same period) puts European phase out of fossil fuels in energy production in the mid 2040's. So yeah, the left just needs to learn how to politics and this will sort itself out.

TL;DR:

You want to take away my air conditioning?

Pry it from my comfortably cold and not overly humid dead hands, Librul cuck!

I've brought this up before, but it's in the news again so why not...

The settlements aren't about stealing a bit of extra land, it's about the Israeli right's addiction to the idea that they're god's chosen people and they've been promised land by god (well known for being a big time real estate broker).

This is the fucking map of what they think they're owed:
