This has been the plan for the religious right wingers since at least the 60's, if not the creation of Israel itself and they're the tail that wags the dog in Bibi's coalition. Much like the white nationalist takeover of the US being a project that was decades in the making, the annexation of Palestinian held territories has been a long, long term project by the ultra nationalists.

This is about Netanyahu more than Israel and none of this has anything to do with anyone's religion or ethnicity.

Replace "Israel" with "Russia" and "Netanyahu" with "Putin" and it's essentially the same thing.

On the one hand, we have a prominent Jewish synagogue in Canada having a blatantly anti-Semitic screed spray painted onto it, and you reacting to that by implying that this was an understandable consequence for Israel & Netanyahu’s actions.

On the other hand, I am directly criticizing the actions of the Israeli government, and suggesting consequences specifically for the State of Israel if they cross a particular red line.

The fact that you are apparently incapable of seeing any difference between the two is why you are an anti-Semite.

Im not saying that the vandalism is okay. Im saying that Netanyahu's actions are providing antisemites with a convenient excuse to do this shit. His actions, unfortunately, do have ripple effects for Jews elsewhere because for antisemites, Jews and Israel are one in the same, which we both know they are not. Nothing excuses the vandalism, but we're seeing more of it now because of what's going on over there.

When I was a kid our next door neighbors were Israeli immigrants. However they were Christian, not Jewish or Muslim, so they were pretty much loathed by both sides there, hence their leaving for Canada. So I've known for decades that "Israeli" is not necessarily synonymous with "Jewish".

But it isn't a "Jewish" problem. It is a political problem between the Israelis and the Palestinians which is exacerbated by the inability of anyone on either side to separate the politics from the religious zealotry/bigotry.

Take religion out of the equation and this becomes 100% easier to solve.

the issue now is that these ultra nationalists (or Jewish extremists as I like to call them) are now essentially driving the bus for the first time ever. their power has grown and grown over the years (even if their popularity has not fully kept pace) and it seems like BG and Smotrich are more in charge than Bibi now. and the results speak for themselves.

in theory, elections in 2026 (or sooner) offer potential salvation, but I'm honestly not sure the country makes it that long in one piece. the internal divisions are like never before in history (which Sinwar was aware of and chose to capitalize one)
 
There is a reason why none of these guys have been able to take advantage of America's Trump experiment and push their countries into world leadership positions and its because they're all morons too.
