IMO jersey retirement should be based on impact on the organization and the fan base. Not skill and points.
Thats why 17 is retired. Wendel isn't close to Marner, or Kessel or McDonald. But Wendel is 17.
Marner is one of the best players we've had. He is on his way there, but if he leaves...
$13.5 * 8 is the second biggest contract in the history of the NHL. He didn’t even negotiate. He could’ve probably gotten more.
He always wanted to test the market. They’ve been saying it all year.
they reportedly offered him 8 * $13.5. That would’ve paid him $170+ million over 14 years to play for his team. His number would be in the rafters. He’d have a statue outside.
It wasn’t exactly difficult for him to stay if that’s all he wanted.
Chicago, Pitt, LA, San Jose etc all seem like terrible opportunities for him.
Why would he go to a shit team to become a saviour?
Carolina or Vegas make sense.
seems right. Think that’s bang on AFP projection.
I read he didn’t want to come to Canada so it doesn’t matter other than there will only be 1 good FA center.
