Ovechkin was 32 when he won the Stanley Cup. I’m good with even 1 Cup during this era. If we have to wait like Caps fans, it’s not so bad. Everyone said Marner was gone last offseason as well. Treliving has said he wants him here, I’m thinking there’s a better chance he stays than leaves.

If you stay calm, you can think a lot better and act more normal than if you allow yourself to go crazy.

Why don’t we wait a few days for everything to calm down? It’s too hard to think reasonably now.

It’s unlikely we’re winning the Cup this year. We all knew this heading into the season.

It’s been longer than I’d like as well. But expecting a Cup this season after only advancing past the first round once in past years is unrealistic IMO. You don’t go from A ball to the big leagues.

Sometimes you need to take steps and be satisfied with progress. Of course we all would love a Cup now, but do you really think this group is ready for that? I’ll take a conference finals appearance at this point, and hopefully we get even more.

What do you suggest then?

I’m just trying to be reasonable with the team. We don’t need a Cup at this point to call this a successful season. Just get out of the second round and aim for higher next year.

Biggest game in the M & M era. Being in the final 4 would be a true step forward and do a lot to silence the critics.

I don’t care about over 2 decades ago. They’re definitely a team we can beat.
