That's why, in this particular case, I questioned its relevancy. Just pointing out there is precedent..... Evidence is insufficent to necessarily merit following through.:)

I don't know if Fowler is the guy to go with or not. I don't know if he's actually any good either. But I think back to Roy's first year (basically a teenager), Dryden's first year (yes, slightly older). Our goaltending wasn't all that good, so we tried the new guy. Tom Barasso came out of high...

Bill Durnan was signed out of senior hockey. Anyone know some good beer league goalies? Granted, that was close to 100 years ago.

Dach and Guhle return to lineup. Good one. For a day or so, maybe. They need to go.

This kind of goaltending can make a whole season go straight down the toilet. We can forget overanalyzing anything else about our play at this point-the goaltending sets off an entire chain reaction that gets reflected throughout our play. Confidence goes, playing scared, etc. .

Yes, that about sums up my reaction too (re Dach)

    GDT | Game #18 | vs Broons | Saturday, November 15th 7:00 PM EST

You'd swear they were trying to set up the guy with the lowest percentage shot on the pp. Hudson, Demidov, Dobson, no intention of shooting at all. And no one, as Galley pointed out, in front of the net at any time. Did Zadorov have them spooked? The only one who seemed to show any interest in...

I don't know. Any lower leg injury can take a bite out of a speed player. Maybe a break is better than an Achilles or ligament issue, I hope.

Newhook was playing the best hockey we've seen him play. We don't have the depth for this kind of stuff. These kind of injuries are especially precarious going forward for players whose speed is their prime asset. What is it with our guys getting hurt when they are playing their best hockey...

Montembault seems to be "playing small" if there is such a thing. Pushing pucks out to players, not asserting himself in the crease, "hoping" to stop it. No confidence. Granted, I don't know much about the technical side of goaltending.

Can we turn Veleno into a Dvorek of sorts---a guy boring as hell who might be useful in harder games? He showed some signs of that tonight. May just be temporary.....

Remember all those years-a generation really-when we couldn't score goals? Drafting Cole (which we encouraged) changed the karma. It also helps not having Therriens, Martins etc. behind the bench. Even if the seas seem to part in our own end at times.

    GDT | Game #14 | at Newark | Thursday, November 6th 7:00 PM EST

This is a good team, an entertaining team. But good point above about Armia, Dvorek types. We will need some ( a lot) of that to compete in the playoffs. This is not the type of team that has been getting it done in the spring. And when was the last time we had a team that was better than the...

Maybe Sullivan needed to go before. They suddenly don't seem as stale. And the Rangers do. No one had them much above the basement, if at all.

No, I had no issue with those two going. But I liked this guy. Maybe the Islanders wouldn't bite on other options, or maybe the team didn't feel as positive about him as I did. Kinda would have liked to see someone else thrown in. Yes, I make the trade regardless.

Our northern skin doesn't do well in the salt spray. Still, he knew about sunscreen. In my younger days, we didn't. I miss those hat free days. Just lying there, soaking it up........now I pay for the sins of my youth :)

He sure looked like his couldn't get his parts to function together. There had to be something wrong with him, other than normal deterioration of his game due to age, etc.

This. I really didn't want to get rid of him at this time. He played his way onto the team last year and showed intangibles, at least until he got run over in the parking lot or wherever. Looked like he might be able to play a variety of roles. Good eye by the Islanders.

Neither was I. I was taking Michkov,or failing that, Leonard. But I would have taken him over Reinbacher. Anyway, I know you and I are in agreement on the first two. :)
