I talked to my Dad the night before he died and he was the same as he always was. My Mom, on the other hand, did not know who I was at his funeral. That's why her death five years later didn't hit me so hard I suppose...I felt I'd already buried her when Dad died. ....the details are unique to...
But I suppose it may be a couple of players on Edmonton that have to approve whichever hire. For all we know, they may prefer Babcock over Torts for their own reasons. Or maybe Torts prefers not to go there (although it seems he's never been much fussy about location and may not have even been...
Tortorella would be a better choice, short term or otherwise, for the Oilers situation, I think, He doesn't seem to carry the same serious baggage as Babcock and seems to have general respect among veteran players about the league despite his colourful ways. Oilers should have waited to see if...
We came close to winning 8 Cups in a row. Won in 52-53, Lewick in OT in 54, and might/likely would have won in 55 if Richard had not been suspended. And we won the next 5 of course.
No, Wings beat Habs in 1954 in game 7 overtime as well (looked it up). The Tony Leswick game. That one slipped my mind. And it also preceded me, so I venture to say none of us have ever seen one. Much easier to wish for one.when you don't have a horse in the race.
I'm happy Carolina won that game so we get a real series. Seven games, OT for the Cup would be ideal. 1950, I believe, was the last such event. It preceded even me.
One thing about those two teams, I suppose, is that their success cannot be attributed to tanking along the way. Something to be...
This could be a no goalie series.
Since I don't care who wins, I was hoping for a long series, with good hockey to entertain.. I guess it was that tonight.
Despite the close score, that could be a short series. Carolina looked like they had not met a worthy opponent till now. Suddenly their weaknesses are exposed (not as strong physically, questionable goaltending, no real firepower). The difference in the two teams was obvious, after the first...
Yeah, every team has players llike that in the system. Most of them just disappear and get replaced with other maybes. The trick is keeping the one who doesn't.
They remind me in some ways of those good Devils teams. They are faster with more forecheck, but similar in the ways they role lines, shut things down. They also, like the Devils, are not star player oriented.
It really is a total breakdown now, for sure. Utter domination.
Funny. I still am not convinced the Canes are that good. Of course we thought the same about the Devils, then they won that Cup in 95.
