2014-2015 Habs lineup

Re: 2014/2015 Habs lineup

I would also try to find someone to take either Prust or Moen off of our hands.

Our only forward grit you want to get rid of? Who else is going to throw their body around? Definitely not our D. I like both Prust/Moen because they can hit, and drop gloves, and going through our lineup, there is virtually no one else who can, not even on D. Even though they are both injury prone, we need one for when the other one is out lol

PAP will likely get what Gionta got last year (40 points). So that's a wash.

We lost Vanek and Briere (yes, I know he sucks), but didn't replace them.

We had more scoring yesterday than we do today.
Pap was on pace for 60 points and more last year. He will be on a much more offensive line to im thinking 60 points is very doable

We have enough cap space to pounce on a desperate GM. I think we will improve before October.

I would prefer someone younger to replace Moen but there isn't anyone so I am okay with him idling in the press box and waiting for his call to hit the ice. It's not a good situation but it doesn't hurt us.

Ding ding ding ding.

If they were both in their mid-20s and not early 30s, I'd be all for keeping them. Add to that both of them seeing their play plummet and you have two players who are over the hill and not worth their contracts. Not to mention their possession stats are terrible.

Trade them while you still can and look for a younger, cheaper alternative. Derek Dorsett was available not too long ago. Opportunity missed.

Re: 2014/2015 Habs lineup

Gallagher was 5'8" when drafted, so odds are he's around that or 5'9" now.

Re: 2014/2015 Habs lineup

There could be a reason why that Czech signed with the Habs when there were supposedly 10+ other teams interested. Maybe he's been guaranteed an NHL shot in at least the top 9, and if he can't handle it in say 30 games then it's AHL time.

Re: 2014/2015 Habs lineup

You don't sign a guy from the KHL that has multiple suitors and send him to the minors. He never would have signed here if that were the case. He's going to start the year in Montreal. If he can't play at the NHL level, then yeah, he'll end up in Hamilton.

Re: 2014/2015 Habs lineup

Exactly, so anyone hoping for a top 6 coming might be disappointed considering MB has yet to sign Subban & Eller, the KHL guy is likely slated for the top 6 role considering the Habs have an abundance of bottom 6 on the roster once Eller's signed.

We will have 14 forwards and 7 defenseman with Eller and Subban signed so you know someone will be on the move if we acquire another player. Given our cap situation, I think we have enough cap space to upgrade either our defense of offense positions.

Re: 2014/2015 Habs lineup

Pacioretty (6'2" 217lbs) - Galchenyuk (6'1" 203lbs) - Gallagher (5'9" 190lbs)

Sekac (6'2" 190lbs) - Plekanec (5'11" 196lbs) - Parenteau (6' 193lbs)

Bourque (6'2" 217lbs) - Eller (6'2" 215lbs) - Weise (6'2" 210lbs)

Bournival (5'11" 196lbs) - Malhotra (6'2" 220lbs) - ???

Prust (6' 194lbs)

Moen (6'2" 210lbs)

Where's DD?

I do like the fact that MB got rid of three midgets. Gionta, Briere (not really midget but under 6') and Bouillon. He did reup Weaver though so our three guys under 5'9" are Gallagher, DD and Weaver.

But Gallagher and Weaver hardly play that way.

Re: 2014/2015 Habs lineup

Agreed. They play tougher than many players over 6'.
