2014/2015 - Subban is on pace for a career year

He's only 3 givaways close to his total last year (83) with 22 games to play.

Playing better in 2015 though.

Well, he is playing more minutes this year and he is a gambler out there. You take the good with the bad. Many of his giveaways came early in the season. He is protecting the puck much better the last month or so. He does seem to be seeing the ice much better and distributing the puck. No complaints here, just expected growth and maturity.
 
Yeah, I'd expect Weber will win it. There's about 10 guys who will be in conversation to be top-3, and PK is certainly among them. As much as guy like PK can be quietly having a very good season, he is this year.
 
I just saw he was a -4 last year and is a +9 this year. I know Price is probably the one who is responsible for that +9 but he could exceed 14 goals which is his career high.

He's on pace for career highs in all his offensive categories (goals, points, assists, plus/minus).

I think that's a simplification of the truth. Yes, price is having a stellar year and that will reflect positively on everyone's +/- (which really underscores the uselessness of the stat on an individual basis), but anyone watching PK with unbiased eyes (is that even possible?) would notice that he has become far more responsible with the puck and tries to pick his spots way more than he ever has in the past. Take note also that despite his pace to surpass his previous highs in goals and assists, he's way below his previous norms in shots. Surely a lot of that has to do with defenders focusing more on him, but it would also suggest that he is being less of a gambler out there. Look, he's not going to be a stay-at-home, try-not-to-make-mistakes guy and he quite frankly shouldn't be, but so long as the offense continues and his defensive game progresses, he will remain among the top d-men in the league. I feel sorry for those who harp solely at his mistakes or cite his salary as a reason to gripe - they're missing a good show.

Subban is miles ahead of all our other defensemen in terms of possession stats. He's not just our best offensive defenceman... he's our best defensively too... by far. His relative impact on the ice is right up there with the relative impacts of the best in the league.

This idea that he's weak defensively... a myth.... yes he ****s up from time to time, but no more than other top defencemen in the NHL, it just gets highlighted more cause we watch 82 Habs games and not 82 games of Duncan Keith or Drew Doughty.

For once someone speaketh the truth. Other dmen make as many errors, we just don't watch them game in and game out.

The Bell Centre also awards more giveaways than most other NHL rinks. Its an unreliable stat as the definition of what is a giveaway varies by who is scoring the game.
