2014 NHL Draft Thread

I think it's pretty damn near impossible for the Leafs to make a bad pick at 8.

My guy says they go Nylander who looks very skilled but also seems safer than a guy like Ehjlers.

They could go Virtanen or Ritchie if they want to go big, gut says Nylander though.

"CHALLENGE ACCEPTED"
- Dave Nonis, probably.

Poulin "this week is really about the draft and we can't lose sight of the work that Morrison has done. Draft is the most important thing"

Finally they are getting it. Now they just need to draft better.

Touched on the top pick as well. Saying they discussed it last night but didn't elaborate much more than that

Its not just draft week. Teams can talk to UFAs. All the GMs are together in one room talking trades. Free agency begins on Tuesday. Its the busiest time of the offseason.

Sittler, Gainey, Bourque, Roenick and Fuhr ..... These are the best!

If Ekblad, Draisaitl, Dal Colle, Bennett, Reinhart, Nylander and Ehlers are the first 7 picks, who do you take at 8?

I probably don't have a ton of support on this one but I take Fabbri. He's pretty small for a top 10 pick but the guy has such a high skill level and was the best player on that Guelph team that had a lot of good players. Then he just destroyed the playoffs. I also like that he scored a ton of goals. I think he's the most talented player, with the highest upside at that point.

So why would Richie not be peoples choice? I am not an expert so it is an actual question but from the looks of him he scored ~1.2 pre draft year and has been described as a "man child".

Potential high impact player no?

Fabbri's handles are pretty filthy, and he's got a good enough shot that I could definitely see him being successful at the NHL level despite his size.
