This ended up being a brilliantly prophetic jinx. Going in to last night Machado was 3 games short of SS eligibility.....with 3 games remaining in the week, and would be eligible for Monday & Game 1 of the Arena do Era.

Then last night's game gets rained out, so they schedule a makeup doubleheader today......still 3 games before the week is done.

Read this morning that Showalter is playing Machado at 3rd for one of the games as he didn't want to play him 18 innings at short in one day.

Well, the only real difference is Crawford to JD Martinez for the week, so it's not like it's a massive downgrade. The bigger question for you is probably whether he gets to the 20 games to have SS eligibility next year right off the bat or not.

True, with how Crawford has been swinging the bat lately, he's probably the smart play for me anyway.


....and yeah, I made the trade primarily for 2016, but if Machado can get to 20 games at SS and give me 2017 eligibility too, I'll be a happy boi.
