2018 NHL Entry Draft

Gorniak is from the Wisconsin high scool system , not exactly a hockey hotbed but that Minnesota , western USA scout must have covered him.

Timmins’ batting average seems to have gone down under the current management, something Timmins suggested by using the word “mandate” when talking about adding size in 2013.

That explains why that draft was so bad with McCarron and Crisp

Almost every draft (a surefire way for things to go to shit is to draft for need instead of BPA) there's been a sort of mandate by Bergevin on the scouts. I remember specifically in 2015 when we took Juulsen that Bergevin wanted us to take a d-man. The 2013 draft is the infamous we got pushed around (despite outplaying Ottawa) so let's overreact and get hurrr durrr bigger herp

Yeah it seems like there has been mandates every year under Bergevin, but I remember there was some as well under Gainey in the past.

Barely. Besides 2007, he butchered the 2003 draft, did ok in 2004-2005, blew up the 2006 draft, and completely missed the 2008-2011 drafts with the exception of Gallagher.
2006 was a mandate as well - get a RDman..

Then they trade Ribeiro for a Damn who plays the right side - though a lefty.

the needless risk taking of Kostitsyn in what was a HOF laden first round in 2003, combined with the David Fischer pick 3 yrs later should have ended Timmins career with the Habs by 2010

Not so sure given that apparently it was very much between Giroux and Fischer.
TT said his intention was to draft Fisher in the 1st due to the lack of RDman in the system and use the mid 2nd they had for Giroux.

Who knows the dude seems to say a lot of save my ass stuff.

good thing it didn't because 1 year later: Subban, McDonaugh, Max

Yet Fischer did nothing to address our system's lack of RHD. 2006 was probably the worst draft class for D-men in my lifetime. Jeff Petry ranks 2nd in points among D-men, trailing only Erik Johnson who went first overall.

They still would be drafted by Habs because , as I mentioned in my post, I fire TT in 2010 after the Fischer and AKos did not pan out.
