It’s confirmed that he has completely gone off the grid and doesn’t want to be found right now. I don’t think we have a choice, although it sucks to do it.

Even reaching out to his ex-wife got me nowhere. She gave me the number that he’s always had and the same one I’ve been calling & texting. Some of the other boys have texted him without response, as well. Probably best to move forward with a replacement manager, especially since he stiffed us in the football league.
 
I'll legit miss that guy. Bull was good people....if he can't take part this year, I hope a day comes where he's interested in joining again. He was a phenomenal manager for the league, was a real injection of activity....he tossed out as many trade offers as anyone.

Hope he's doing alright.

I appreciate the empathy! I don't get the sense that we're going to change precedent here, or that I can do much beyond frown if a couple of my lottery picks over the next couple years turn into mid-rounders instead because that's what the league decided.

But it isn't a lot of fun feeling bitter or holding on to an argument, and I prefer to get fun and enjoyment out of these leagues, so let's move past this, and get our new teams settled in to do their dispersal as soon as we can.

I definitely appreciate your begrudging understanding. I feel it's how I would handle it too.
 
Yeah, me too. It sucks.

I guess from their perspective, having mediocre teams and no first round picks for the next 3 drafts felt kinda hopeless. Not blaming Iceman even 1% for that, those guys are responsible for their own trades. But it's unfortunate. Didn't have too much interaction with Stubby but it always seemed like he knew what he was doing. The other guy, clearly didn't.

Probably not a huge consolation, but I suspect if we added together everything that Iceman gave up for the picks we're talking about, it still wouldn't be as valuable as the 2 lottery picks this year ... and that's without counting the other 4 first rounders.
 
Assuming everyone else is back, we've got 3 openings and 3 new managers. Hopefully Deckie can get them sorted into their own individual teams, and we can get to work on the dispersal draft this week.

Do we want to make the list of unprotected players available for their draft? If so I guess we need to start getting those keeper lists posted.
 
Hey guys, just got the email verification sorted out. I’m Kevin and excited to be invited to join your league. Looking forward to a long term commitment league! I approve of the way that you guys are handling the dispersal draft and draft picks.

I assumed that the team that I was going to receive would have lack of talent / prospects, and hoped to build a long term contender through the drafts. This would be extremely difficult if I had inherited a team with a bad roster and little draft capital.

If possible, please start sharing unprotected lists and available players / picks for the dispersal draft, so I can start ranking the talent. I am very flexible on the scheduling of the draft.

Looking forward to a great season!
 
So the draft pick conversation seems to be settled. What about the other things that were brought up? Since we aren’t expanding are we sticking with 20 “protected”? And, are we going to add the 26th roster spot? Just curious if those things were settled yet?
 
I'd imagine the protected lists won't change. But I am curious about the 26th roster spot as well.
 
Yeah, the # of protected players probably doesn't need to change now. Unless we want to help out the new teams a little bit more. We could consider making it 18 or 19 protected players, 28 or 29 minor leaguers just to sweeten the pool a bit. But also don't want to overcomplicate the process.

As for 26, I'm not opposed to it. Are there any major pros or cons about it that we need to discuss?

And welcome aboard Kevin! There's a thread for the Dispersal Draft, the second post has the full rosters for the 3 teams involved. There is also a separate thread for protected lists, we'll add the list of unprotected players into that Dispersal thread once the lists are all posted.

I don't mind an extra bench slot, presumably means rosters would bump to 26 players?

But are deciding that in the dispersal the new teams can grab from unprotected slots too? If so, we should probably set a date for everyone to have their lists in by, and figure out timeline for this draft and then our main draft too.
 
Yeah, I mentioned making the list of unprotected players available for their draft. I can't really think of a reason not to do it. Does that make sense to you, Deckie?

As long as any players selected count towards the 3 player limit. Wouldn’t want a manger losing like 5 unprotected players between the two drafts.
 
Thanks Axl for posting a list of available players and hope I can get lost of all of your unprotected players soon. Do I pay through fantrax or etransfer someone?
 
Jeremy here! Can someone please clarify the draft to fill our rosters? We can pick from unprotected lists and the 3 teams that were left "vacant"? Just trying to start to do some ordering. Thanks again!
