IMO, the absolute best reason to go to those games is to hang out with the American supporter groups. I may have lost 10 pounds in water weight in Orlando last time I saw Villa play in the States, but hanging with the North American Lions made it worth it … mostly.
 
Neil Warnock isn’t the only dinosaur returning to the dugout. Championship side Bristol City appointed Roy Hodgson as head coach for the rest of the season. The Robins were in the playoffs last season and were in a playoff position earlier in the season but are 16th in the table with only 1 point in their last 6 matches and losses to stragglers Leicester and West Brom.

Hodgson coached the Robins for 21 matches from January - April 1982 when they were in the 4th Divsion after back to back to back relegations, having been in the 1st Division in 1980.
 
I did wonder if the Greenwood stuff would come back to bite De Zerbi. So many people staked so much to support a guy who was only ever a pretty good player.
 
As someone who cannot stand Spurs and would enjoy their relegation, this appointment makes me very happy. I cannot think of many worse fits to try to save this team from relegation than De Zerbi. He has a long history of being caustic and most of the squad knows that they're gone in the summer especially if they get relegated and will have no issue finding new teams. The team captain is actively trying to get kicked out of every match he can so he can play as few remaining games for Spurs as possible (or he's just a piece of shit... actually, it's probably a little of column A, a little of column B).

Good news for Spurs fans though, you don't have to worry about Matty Cash in the Championship!
 
So … in a season in Scottish football where neither of the Old Firm teams had the first clue what they were doing, Celtic still nipped Hearts at the line to take the title with a 3-1 win today. Hearts had led the SPL since the end of September, meanwhile Rangers were lost at sea under new ownership and Celtic cycled through 3 managers … one of whom lasted a month in charge. And yet, once the schedule split that separates the contenders from the bottom of the division for the last set of fixtures, Celtic ended up running them down. I’m a freaking Celtic fan and I was kinda rooting for Hearts today. The inequity in Scottish football just cannot be healthy.

Everton was ordered to pay Burnley £35 million, composed of £26 million in damages and £9 million in interest due to their PSR breach in the 2021-22 season. An independent commission ruled that Everton’s breaches gave them a 3.85 - 7.13 point advantage. It added that "on the balance of probabilities, Everton’s breach of the PSR caused Burnley to be relegated". Everton finished that season in 16th on 39 points. Leeds was 17th on 38 and Burnely was 18th on 35. Leeds reached a private settlement with Everton in September 2025.

Everton have appealed, with sources saying they will "robustly and thoroughly" contest the ruling.

NWSL club Gotham Fc annoucned that they‘re moving…to Gotham in 2028. They’ve been playing in Sports Illustrated Stadium (Red Bull Arena) in New Jersey. They’re moving into Etihad Stadium, which is under construction in Queens and will also be the home of MLS club NYCFC.

I kind of feel for that fan base. Every time they get settled somewhere, they pick up and change stadiums. Being in New York proper fits their marketing better, but not that many of their core group of fans in northern NJ will be coming with so they’re gonna have to start over sales-wise.
 
The US Women’s National Team will play Spain in 2 friendlies during the October Inteternational break. They’ll play at Audi Field in Washington on October 10 and Subaru Park in Chester, PA on October 13.

Spain has already qualified for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, the US must beat El Salvador in the CONCACAF W Championship in November.
 
The Bundesliga signed a 5 year US broadcast rights deal with USA Network and Fandango that will pay $20 million per year, $10 million less than their previous deal with ESPN. Both USA and Fandango are owned by Versant, which Comcast spun off earlier this year and houses all of Comcast’s cable and digital brands. Fandango is known primarily for selling movie tickets but Versant is trying to transform it into a streaming platform. They’ll have the majority of the games with only about 30 on USA, which already broadcasts Premier League matches. Fandango does not require a subscription and is available on all streaming services.
