I just looked at Florida's schedule the rest of the way and it's not much harder than Carolina's. They have 5 games remaining against current playoff teams and 1 with a wildcard "contender." Carolina has 4 and 1. The Canes have that two game roadie to Colorado and Arizona, plus a NY Metro trip while most of Florida's tough games are at home ... aside from a trip to Nashville and one to Boston. The No. 1 Seed in the East most likely boils down to those two although Tampa and Pittsburgh are lurking. The Rangers are too, but their schedule is a notch tougher.
 
so now they know how long they should suspend the dirtbag from Washington. I’ll be expecting an announcement from the league. Otherwise I presume they endorse that type of cheap play.
 
maybe i'm having a senior moment but when i try to exchange tickets for another game now (in the same section) it now is trying to charge me instead of just switching them out?
 
IF you missed it , the 2 big local road projects are now delayed by 1 year. Beltline widening (impacts Canes fans) and I40 widening to Johnston county

I haven't run into that before. Full season tix? Are you hitting a different price point in the same section maybe?

Yeah, it’s kind of a read between the lines thing. I only had the Aftermath on for a short time and he mentioned it was his last show. And then I saw someone congratulate Michael Smith on getting the gig on Twitter, but nothing official from either.

I do a fair number of ticket exchanges and extra ticket purchases every season (I have season tix in Sec 112). The only thing I've seen this season that is different than prior seasons involves extra ticket purchases.

We all know about the whole Bronze, Silver, Gold level pricing from prior seasons. I don't think they really officially designate games quite in that way anymore, but that pricing dynamic still exists, and they changed the way STM extra ticket purchases are priced this season.

For example, my base season ticket cost this season is $57. That is the cost I pay for every game this season (before taxes). Prior to this season, if I wanted to buy additional tickets for a game in my same section and pricing level, those tickets would also cost me $57 a ticket. It didn't matter what game it was, Bronze, SIlver, Gold, that $57 was my additional ticket price.

That is not the case this season. I still get a substantial discount when I buy 'extra tickets', but the price I pay is variable:

* Premium (Gold) game = $71 a ticket
* Middle (Silver) game = $63 a ticket
* Lower (Bronze) game = $57 a ticket

That probably doesn't impact too many people, but it did impact me and represented a stealth price hike for me.

They are doing a similar thing with playoff tickets this season. In the past, when I wanted to add additional playoff strips to my 2 seats, my cost for the additional seats was the same as my full season ticket playoff cost. That is NOT going to be the case this season. I will still get a big discount, but the extra seats in my same section will come with higher prices than my regular seat playoff tickets.

What they did with the extra seat prices for the regular season introduces another wrinkle with ticket exchanges. If you are not paying Pure Hockey pricing, in addition to exchanging your regular season tickets for tickets to other games (those that are not blacked out for exchanges), you can actually exchange extra tickets you purchase as well. Its pretty uncommon that I have to do this, but I have had a need both in prior seasons and this season to exchange additional tickets that I purchased.

If I'm exchanging MY ACTUAL SEASON TIX, it doesn't matter if I'm exchanging tickets to a 'Bronze' priced game with tickets to a 'Silver' priced game. The exchange will net my cost out to zero in that case. However, if I'm exchanging extra tickets purchased to a BRONZE game to be tickets to a higher priced game in the same section, the exchange process will charge me the difference in cost for the more expensive game.

Anyhow, that is mostly a 'me' issue and might have nothing to do with HurryCanes situation, but its another example of the Canes quietly doing some price hikes for STMs who take advantage of the opportunity to purchase additional tickets. Still a great deal to be a full STM, just not quite as good as it once was.....

I came across this on Twitter this morning. If you sold tickets through the Ticketmaster resale site, it looks like you have to report gross sales over $600.

I just read about this in the Wall Street Journal. It's called the 1099-K form, which I had never heard of. In 2021, Congress approved a regulation on 1099-K reporting, which lowered the amount from $20,000 per year to $600 per year. The WSJ estimates that 20 million Americans are going to be surprised when they receive a 1099-K when they prepare their 2022 tax returns.

yup, I just got a request from ticket master for some canes tickets I sold recently.

I understand the angle from and IRS/Government/Taxes perspective. If you are profiting from ticket resales your profits are supposed to be reported to the IRS and you should be paying taxes on them. I suspect there are a large number of individuals who are actually churning tickets for the sole purpose of making money that don't report their profits to the IRS. I can tell you FOR SURE the there are many individuals playing this game with tickets for BTS concerts (yes my daughter is a KPop fan).

So this new regulation is an effort to flag all of these ticket resellers who might not be reporting their profits to the IRS and therefore are not paying taxes.

I respect that. However, that $600 amount is ridiculously low. When the Canes make the Cup finals this year, there is a real possibility I might not be able to go to some of the games due to a long planned vacation. Just selling my tickets for ONE of those playoff games through a ticket resale outlet is enough to push me over that $600 threshold for 1099-K reporting.

Good idea, poor execution. Hopefully they adjust that $600 number upwards.
