Lou Lamoriello says that all but 1 Islander will be vaccinated by the start of camp. The outlier will not be invited to camp and theyre looking to assign him to Europe.

Maybe we’ll only have 1 Sebastian Aho to keep track of this season? ;)

Wouldn't crusty old Leo Komorov be a better candidate? Plus, that would save us watching him injure yet another player in the corner 50 feet away from the pay this season.

The Jackers signed goalie Elvis Merzlikens to a 5 year/$27 million extension. He’s going into the last year of a 2 year/$8 million contract.

The Wild finally signed Kirill Kaprizov, 5 years/$45 million. Svech’s contract is already a bargain.
Svech only made vague noises about checking out his value in the KHL. Kaprizov's agent dropped a contract on Guerin's desk and then didn't answer his phone for a month. There was a SLIGHT difference in negotiating styles.

But yeah ... Svech's deal was a mild bargain when they signed it and it just keeps looking better. That trend is likely to continue as Pettersson and B Tchacuk get their deals.

Apparently the Blues finally got Robert Thomas' RFA deal done last night. Breaking the trend, it's actually a bridge deal ... 2 years at $2.8 mil.

That narrows the list of prominent unsigned RFAs to Tkachuk, Pettersson, the good Hughes and poor old Rasmus Dahlin. Both Buffalo and Ottawa need their guys signed to get over the Cap floor, FWIW. Vancouver on the other hand, has $10 million in space and two guys on that list. They pretty much have to go short term with two young stars because of absolutely moronic roster/payroll management.

The Slugs signed Rasmus Dahlin, 3 years/$18 million. He gets $2 million SB and $3 million salary, then $5.8 and $7.2 salary the last 2 years.

Seems about right. The escalation assumes his performance will continue to grow, and he's been fairly stagnant across his first three seasons ... albeit playing in horrible conditions, being asked to do WAY too much on just terrible teams. At least Dahlin is only locked in for three years, and then he'll get another dip as an RFA, presumably arbitration eligible so he'll have a bit of leverage.

That leaves only Ottawa under the Cap floor, and supposedly a deal with Tkachuk is close to completion. If he's smart, he'll also limit this deal to 2-3 years.

Oilers goalie Alex Stalock is expected to miss the entire season due to myocarditis that was diagnosed after contracting Covid last November. He didn’t play at all last year but dressed as the backup in May. He’s in the last year of a 3 year/$2.55 million contract signed with the Wild.

Steve Yzerman said that Tyler Bertuzzi has declined to be vaccinated. He’ll be at camp, subject to the NHL protocol but won’t be able to travel to games in Canada. No big deal, the Atlantic only has 3 Canada-based teams in their division.

That protocol isn't quite as harsh as the NFL's but it's no walk in the park either. The NFL's vaxxed player percentage went up fully 10 percentage points AFTER final rosters. After a while, a lot of guys just got the jab so that they could avoid the hassle and isolation of the protocols. And fines. That did a lot of the heavy lifting too.

There are also rumors of NFL players getting their hands on fake vaccination cards.

This is why the NHL was insistent on being able to withhold pay.

SO the question here would be 'medical reason'? 'Sincerely held religious belief?'

Either of those and you don't forfeit money.

Otherwise for every day Bertuzzi is unavailable to travel with, practice with, or play in a game with the Red Wings because he is unvaccinated and cannot cross the border without quarantining would result in pay forfeiture (1/200 of his salary per day unavailable).

The NHL completed its investigation of Evander Kane’s alleged gambling and cleared him. However, “additional unrelated allegations…involving potential wrongdoing“ have been brought to the league’s attention and are being thoroughly investigated.
