2022 Draft Thread

I wouldn’t hurry to compare Laffy with JD. Why? because they speak French? Seems lazy to me.

I’ve heard zero rumblings that the Rags are unhappy. He hasn’t cracked their top 6 but they don’t need him to right now.

The comparison debate is only about trading for him

Sal mentioned he can be an elite W , so why trade him if thats the case

Same as JD , why move him for Chevy who needed 3 years of development if Yzerman thought he was a front liner

Gotcha

I agree with your hunch; I don’t think the Rags are motivated sellers

it was just the opposite end of the huberdeau comparison

And if you know this, why wouldn't Chris Drury?
Hence “ not sure what NYR position is though”…

combined w cap crunch coming NYR way w Kaako & Miller up for new contracts and from the talk in these parts NYR are ready to cough up $4.5M+ to keep Copp & Vatrano will likely be resigned - I’m sure they’d welcome an ELC deal for next 3-years

If Lafrenière has similar point totals next season as he does this one, I would start getting worried. Right now, though, I'm not.

I wouldn't either, because I value a quality center like Shane Wright over elite wingers.

Below Shane Wright, though, I'm all ears.

What a waste Wright would be in Phoenix.

If they get the first, we should offer them our pick and Weber’s cap hit.

That deal won’t happen but Weber’s contract will get traded — it’s straight cash wired into an owner’s personal bank account

It will happen but it’s value is grossly overestimated. Winnipeg gave up a prospect to get rid of Little’s contract, for only a 4th rd pick in return. The only way we get something significant in return is if we eat a bad contract in return.

I keep thinking that Nashville would have the most incentive to trade for Weber. Like they should be offering up actual assets for him. Then do everything they can to make sure he does not retire.
