I’ve seen tweets from multiple people today that Bettman will announce the sale of the Coyotes to Ryan Smith and their relocation to Salt Lake City next Thursday, April 18.
Per multiple sources, the Coyotes players were informed of the move to Salt Lake City today.

Gary put up a valiant fight all those years, glad this mess is finally being put to bed in the desert.
Psychotic stuff. Only the NHL would leave the door open for an owner that incompetent. Well, I say that. Meruelo would fit right in in the second or third tier of English football with the other numpties and charlatans.Kinda. NHL still wants a team in Arizona and they told Meruelo they will leave the door open for him to own the team.
I left out that I meant this year ... but that's my sense, that this has been a post pandemic trend.I went back and looked at the 2018 Draft becuase I knew there was a high 1st rounder from college. Brady Tkachuk and K’Andre Miller didn’t get that first year bump. Quinn Hughes and Oliver Wahlstrom both played right after college. More recently, Jake Sanderson did get it so maybe it’s been a post-pandemic thing?
Depending on the county and the type of product, sales tax can be as high as 13% in Florida, but the general average for consumer goods is around 10%. The government gonna get that money, regardless of what they call it. Sales tax, property tax, service fees, registration fees ... all that stuff is adjusted up in States with no income tax. When I lived in Dallas the sales tax was nearly 9% also.
It wouldn't shock me if that was part to get it done as this current saga had to end.. I feel bad for the 'yotes fans..Kinda. NHL still wants a team in Arizona and they told Meruelo they will leave the door open for him to own the team.
There is no way they should let that guy near another team. I think Bettman said that to placate the fans. But the guy is a phony, barely better than Boots del Biaggio and John Spano. It wouldn't shock me if that was part to get it done as this current saga had to end.. I feel bad for the 'yotes fans..
and I expect the NHL to allow him to bid... but I also expect that it'll be an uphill climb.. (Depends on the contract..)
Speculation runs towards that "commitment" being made to avoid potential litigation. That's the only way it makes sense, from where I sitThere is no way they should let that guy near another team. He's not long for the league or a long life when you see how many he takes to the noggin...yikes.Rempe takes a lot of punches, kid needs to learn how to not get hit as much.
