They will definitely be going outside of the organization for someone.Which brings up the question of who's next? Lots of time to ponder this, but it's among the biggest challenges we must address.

Oh, yeah ... for sure. Kochetkov still will have two years left but that $2 million hit for him isn't wildly out of line for a backup/platoon guy. It would be a heck of a course correction for the Canes to try to make a deal for an established franchise goalie, but there's always loose parts floating around on the market. They'll figure something out. They will definitely be going outside of the organization for someone.
I know it’s easy to rag on the Leafs but the early returns on a free agent guy like Anthony Stolarz as a full time dependable starter looks promising. I wouldn’t mind the Canes finding someone like that as a 1A to pair with Pyotr next year. They will definitely be going outside of the organization for someone.
It took Stolarz forever to find his feet in the NHL in the Ducks system, but once he finally got a crack behind a proper defense in Florida, he looked the part. I would expect Carolina to continue to go with more of a platoon setup, since that's been the approach since Dundon bought the team, so it'll be worthwhile to lookout for those kinds of guys this season.I know it’s easy to rag on the Leafs but the early returns on a free agent guy like Anthony Stolarz as a full time dependable starter looks promising. Has NC State moved up a tier to start playing friendlies against the D1 big boy schools now?Not Canes related, but Invisalign Arena co-tenant related. NC State hockey at Michigan State is on ESPN+ at 8:20 tonight.
No. They moved up to ACHA (club) division 2. Michigan State has enough players to field a NCAA D 1 team and a club team. There are a lot of schools that field teams in both NCAA and ACHA. For example, all of the Big 10 hockey schools except Notre Dame have ACHA Division 2 teams.Has NC State moved up a tier to start playing friendlies against the D1 big boy schools now?
I don’t think Capitol would be an option. Both WRAZ and WRAL are network affiliates. I know WRAL used to pre-empt network broadcasts for ACC basketball, but they were a CBS affiliate then and NBC now. I don’t think network stations in the 24th biggest market would do that now. And ACC basketball probably drew more viewers than hockey and it was only once night per week instead of multiple nights. Maybe they can put them on one of their alternate HD channels but they’re not widely available.https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/42273303/mlb-braves-file-objection-diamond-sports-reorg-plan
The Diamond Sports Reorg plan coming under scrutiny by the Atlanta Braves and MLB and the Cincinnati Reds dropped Diamond completely…it’s sounding more and more like Diamond might not be able to make it out of bankruptcy…maybe Dundon is proactively taking Capitol Broadcasting out on a test run before Diamond turns the lights out mid-season…
I've also been told that this is a distinct possibility and I know the NHL also has the capacity to host streaming. That was something they made sure was the case back when the RSNs first started going all wonky. While it certainly wouldn't be seamless should Diamond Sports suddenly lock the doors, I think it's safe enough to assume that something would be in place rather quickly.I have no inside information on this, but Capitol’s technical capabilities are impressive, and I’m sure they can support their own stand-alone streaming platform if the possibility presents itself.
